The monument symbolizes Samara in its connection to aerospace. The monument was built on the basis of the carrier rocket Soyuz, which was constructed in the workshops of “ZSKB - Progress”. That’s where the most reliable parts of the carrier-rocket are constructed. There have been over 1670 launchings of Soyuz for more than 40 years. That is more than any other carrier-rockets in the world. The height of the monument is 68 meters; its total weight is 73 tons.
It should be mentioned, that you can visit a Samara Cosmic Museum, which is inside this monument.
